If you wish you can now help beta test The Inteenimater - but be warned as this is a beta test the current version is, as it stands, completely untested. It’s advised you back up your game before playing around with this. You do need to register on the forum to participate in the beta testing.

Please make sure you read The Rules of the Beta and don’t just jump in and throw the hack in your game - you could cause severe problems in doing so.

A few important notes from the beta rules:

# You should be computer literate and understand basic operation of your computer and its file system. If your computer experience amounts to, “Just click the little desktop icon,” this beta is not for you.
# You must be prepared to remove all custom content from your game except the InTeenimater when asked.
# You must be willing to offer up your sims and neighborhoods as burnt offerings to the cause. While I do not anticipate this would ever be the case, your game data files may be irreparably junked during the beta process and you should be comfortable with scrubbing your game and starting over.
# You must be fluent with the functionality of the InTeenimater. This means you must actually have Read The Frackin’ Manual. The purpose of this beta is to expose and repair bugs. Moreover, this is not a general support forum - and you will receive none here. Moderators have been given instructions to kill any post which is not directly related to the beta testing of the Pets Edition. No exceptions.
# You should be a competent user of The Sims 2 and possess a solid understanding of the game and have the ability to install and remove custom content. You should be familiar with the cheat/debug console (especially the boolProp cheats). You should understand how to trap a jump bug, acquire log files, and attach them to your posts (see the forum FAQ for instructions on how to do this).

A huge thanks to forum member raye1 for providing the translation of the german site we linked in yesterdays entry!

As reported by Callum91 on our boards, apparently Life Stories will be a standalone game and not any sort of expansion pack for the sims2

You can go here for some pics - the text is in german. However, raye1forTS2 has provided some information in regards to this.

Apparently Life Stories is a laptop friendly version with various things like a special pause button you use when you close your laptop while on the road.

In later EP’s you will be able to visit a tropical island!

The long-awaited update of SimPE for pets is now here! Please note that while previous versions required only .NET framework 1.1, this one requires you to upgrade to .NET 2.0 - without this, SimPE will not function for you. You can download .NET 2.0 here and install it prior to getting SimPE installed.

Quaxi has stated that this release isn’t a full release, but something of a pre-release in order to get a copy out to those that have been patiently waiting. You should expect bugs and if you encounter them, make sure you report them on the SimPE site so they can work on fixing them. It is advisable that you keep a backup of all game files and downloads.

Get your copy now and start having fun!

Many thanks to Quaxi and the QA team!

The eagerly awaited update of The InSIMenator is now complete! You can pick up your copy now in the language of your choice!

Many thanks to Eric, Kathy and all the beta testers who made this possible!

As I’m sure most of you know, along with wonderful furry friends and critters, the Pets expansion has brought with it some more vermin. Unfortunately, getting rid of it is not as easy as calling the exterminator.

Perhaps the biggest problem is the fact that any bodyshop items made with Pets installed are not backwards compatible. Meaning, unless you have pets - even things that aren’t “pets required” specifically, aren’t going to work properly in your game. Thankfully Numenor has made a “Legacy Bodyshop” that enables creators to make bodyshop items with Pets installed and not have to worry about non-pets users being unable to use the item.

The other issues include the fact that Pets bodyshop will package meshes for clothing and hair with any sims you package, custom accessories fail to display correctly in game, werewolf skins won’t show up properly where custom skins are used on sims as well as a few other things.

You can read more about them along with links to various fixes and work around here in our modding discussion forum on MTS2.

Get your copy now!. Many thanks to Numenor for updating it to work with the Pets items.

For those of you who have no idea why you would want this, read on!

What is the CEP? What’s its purpose?

The CEP enables colour options for many objects that Maxis shipped in only one colour (e.g. the potty chair, the exercise machines, the photo boot); the CEP also enables colour options for a second part of the object, when Maxis offered only one recolourable part (e.g. the books of the bookcases, the ampli for the guitar, the marble base and the exterior of the coffin). Once installed the CEP, you’ll be able to create additional recolours for those objects, and use recolours created by other users.
THE CEP HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CLOTHINGS, SKINS, HAIR,
ACCESSORIES AND SUCH. IT AFFECTS ONLY *MAXIS OBJECTS*

Gamespot has published an article covering Sims3 as well as Sims for the PS3 and WII.

During the same call, Jenson also confirmed that several sequels to EA’s most important franchises are in the works. “Yes, there’s a Sims 3 in development and it’s likely to be a fiscal ‘09 title,” said Jenson, meaning the game would hit stores before April 2009. The executive also confirmed that the Sims franchises will also be coming to two next-generation platforms–the Wii and the PlayStation 3.

“There is a Sims title that is being specifically developed for the Wii platform,” said Jenson. “The Sims II holiday edition on PS3″ is also coming, said the executive, indicating the game will arrive either in the 2006 or 2007 holiday season.

callum91 pointed out that there is a new option on the EA site for something called The Sims 2 Life Stories. You can see the image he saved here:

Also, he has pointed out that MaxoidMel has confirmed this on the BBS - however posters are prohibited from speaking about it as of yet. In this BBS post MaxoidMel states:

Many of you have noticed that the EA.com Web site has put “The Sims Life Stories” in their registration drop down. Yes, this game does exist and there will be more information to share about this game in the future. Please do not continue to post off topic messages about this game at this time.
